About Akino

Welcome — I’m glad you’re here. This is a space where Japanese food, culture, and calm everyday living come together.

Discover healthy Japanese home cooking, weekly.
Each week, you’ll receive simple recipes rooted in seasonality, cultural stories, and reflections on everyday life in Japan — directly from my kitchen to yours.

I’m Akino Ogata, a Japanese home-cooking author, recipe developer, and international YouTube creator best known for her channel “Kitchen Princess Bamboo”, followed by over 320,000 subscribers worldwide. Based in historic Nara, Japan, Akino introduces authentic Japanese everyday food in English, making traditional flavors approachable for home cooks around the globe.

With a background in pastry and years of experience in global business, Akino bridges Japanese culinary wisdom with modern, busy lifestyles. Her work focuses on simple techniques, natural seasonality, and the emotional comfort of food. In 2026, she will release her first English-language Japanese cookbook with Tuttle Publishing, sharing not only recipes but also cultural stories and kitchen traditions passed down through generations.

Through video, writing, and teaching, Akino continues her lifelong mission: to connect Japan and the world through the quiet power of everyday home cooking—while demystifying Japanese cuisine that is often perceived as complex, and making it accessible to anyone, anywhere.
